The HF Radio has a range of approximately 4000 km and gives you access to the club frequencies, also the Royal Flying Doctor bases, ABC AM Radio, 27 MHz Radio and weather channels as well as being able to chat to friends over the radio and even access the landline and mobile telephone system to call up family and friends.

There is no better guarantee of safety if you need help - day or night, because when you have a HF Radio you are never alone, there is always someone out thers listening. For more social contacts, there are scheduled chat times for our members. You can also call up individual members, via the Selcall facility outside of the sked times.

The HF Radio Club Inc has members in every state of Australia; in 4WD, motorhomes, caravans, on stations and farms or just radio buffs to help you. Many of our members are on the road constantly (with their radios on, of course) so you can exchange greetings and news all over the country.

We have access to twelve frequencies ranging from 3 MHz to 16 MHz. Recently, we acquired another four channels (60.61.62.63). They are now fully available for our members use.

We have base stations, that can be contacted for emergencies. They are located at Casino in NSW, Sapphire in QLD and Albany in WA.

Amongst our radio buffs we have experts on various radio models, we have technicians and trainers who can help you with installation and operation of your radio. -Contact the Field Officer, for further information.

The current fees are as follows (fees are renewable 1st July each year):

$20 joining fee, plus $65 annual membership total for 2 people travelling together (total of $85.00)
there is a pro rata reduction in the year of joining, applying to the membership fee only:-

From 1st October the fee is reduced to $40.00, from 1st January to $20.00, from 1st April it is $65 which gives you 15 months membership.

Telephone Interconnect (TIC) - (not compulsory) - A deposit of $50 is required and you will be billed for the calls you make, you then top up your "bank" as needed. This money belongs to you and is refunded if you no longer wish to be in the TIC system. Calls are for a maximum of 6 minutes and are at a very reasonable cost.

On joining our club, you receive an authority to transmit on all of our frequencies, a Magazine every three months, a club sticker to put on your aerial, name tags and a selcall list with all the members’ names, selcall numbers and telephone numbers, so that you can keep in contact all the way around Australia.
